As I was browsing through the millions amount of books at the Palatine Public Library this past summer, I couldnt find one that interested me. I like suspense and mystery books which end in a thriller a reader would never expect. As I was looking at those types of books I finally found one that interested me and meets my standards of a great book. It is an interesting novel called Killing Mr. Griffin.# # Killing Mr. Griffin by Lois Duncan is about tough English teacher with no emotions named Mr. Griffin. Mr. Griffin does not give in to girls cuteness in class when they dont understand an assignment, he wont accept anything late, even from the class president and star athlete; the smartest girl who get straight As and is top of her graduating class is hanging on to the best grade in the class, a B; he even made a student beg in front of the classroom for a second chance in his class. Class president Dave Rutters, the beggar Mark Kinney, the cute girl Betsy Cline, athlete Jeff Garrett, and brainiac Sue McConnell (who gets blinded by love) all in Mr. Griffin class have had enough of him and his strict teaching rules and start designing a plan to kill their high school English teacher. They successfully pull off the first part of their plan, kidnapping Mr. Griffin. After scaring him, they decide to leave him for the night, but Sue and Dave decided to go and untie him late at night because they feel bad for him. When they reach there they find Mr. Griffin's body very cold, with no movement. They get closer and realize that Mr. Griffin is dead. The five students need to figure what to do with their teachers body and most importantly need to figure out which one of them is the killer.# ### # # This book is similar to almost all types of murder that takes place in the world. Theres always one person that saw what really happened and reports it to the police and that murderer would go to jail for life. In this similar case, the students thought that were they buried Mr. Griffins body was a secret place that nobody knew. However, a former girlfriend/boyfriend of one of the students went there and found Mr. Griffin's body buried and reported it to the police. After the police got that information they slowly started to figure out who killed Mr. Griffin. Theres always something that a person forgets when doing something corrupt that will ruin their plan. Also this book is similar to real life murders in how a person will do anything to not get caught and will cover their tracks to keep their secret.# # I recommend this book to all age groups who like a good mystery and a thriller ending. Teenagers will enjoy this novel because they can compare with the students in the story. Theres always that one teacher that students dont like and wish something bad would happen to them so they wouldnt be their teacher anymore. This novel also shows students that making wrong decisions when knowing it is wrong will only haunt them in the future and make them regret their decision. Furthermore, this novel teaches kids to follow their own inner sense of right and wrong and not go to someone else to fix their problems. Parents will also enjoy this because it teaches them about teenagers being submitted to peer pressure and what could happen to them in result.# # This book overall was a great novel that made me wanting more at the end. Even when I was tired I still wanted to read more and see what will happen to the students. It was also interesting to find the person who put the pieces together in finding out who killed Mr. Griffin. The ending was my favorite part of the whole novel because I was not expecting it at all which made me wanting more. I give this book five out of five stars and recommend all readers to read this roller coaster novel. There is also a movie that was made, which I will be watching in the near future.##[fremdeng.ning.com]
